He is the Chief of Cerebrovascular, Skull Base and Pituitary Surgery at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, RWJ Barnabas Health. Dr. Liu is an international leader in skull base surgery, advancing treatments for complex tumors in the brain, skull base, and spinal cord, including pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, meningiomas, chordomas, and paragangliomas. His expertise extends to cerebrovascular microsurgery, addressing conditions like brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural AV fistulas, cavernous malformations, moyamoya, carotid stenosis, and neurovascular compression syndromes (trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm). Dr. Liu is a highly sought-after Visiting Professor, with over 500 invited lectures worldwide. As the creator of the “The Art of Brain Surgery: Masterclass” Youtube series and a prolific author of over 300 published journal articles and 30 textbook chapters, Dr. Liu is dedicated to advancing the field of neurosurgery through education and research, where he has taught many hands-on skull base cadaveric dissection courses around the globe.

Dr. Takeo Goto

Dr. Takeo Goto, MD, PhD, is a distinguished Japanese neurosurgeon currently serving as the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Osaka Metropolitan University Graduate School of Medicine. Born on 17th May 1968, Dr. Goto obtained his medical degree from Osaka City University Medical School in 1994, followed by extensive postgraduate training and employment within the same institution. He progressed through various roles, starting as a Neurosurgical Resident and later advancing to Assistant Professor, Senior Assistant Professor, and ultimately Associate Professor before assuming his current leadership position.
Dr. Goto's expertise lies in several specialized areas of neurosurgery, with a primary focus on microscopic and endoscopic surgical techniques for skull base tumors, as well as microvascular decompression surgery. His dedication to advancing the field is evidenced by his active involvement in numerous professional societies and committees, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Goto holds board memberships in several prestigious organizations, including the Japan Neurosurgical Society and the International Academy of Neurosurgical Anatomy (IANA), among others. Notably, he serves as the Co-chairman of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) neuroendoscopy committee and is an active member of the World Academy of Neurosurgical Surgeons (WANS). Through his leadership, research, and clinical practice, Dr. Goto continues to make significant contributions to the field of neurosurgery, particularly in the treatment of complex skull base pathologies.
